Your parts. Your layout.
Cut lumber, make panels in batches and link storage to a placed saw. Build a shelter with exposed framing, lights and switches, or fit out a vehicle.

A DESERT SURVIVAL SANDBOX
Make something of what's left.
Scavenge the desert. Build a vehicle from the parts you find. Find a place to stop—or keep moving.
Distant house lighting, regional ground colours, smoother drops and food you can place on shelves.
Release notes →THE GAME SO FAR
Hardpan is a first-person survival and building sandbox set in an open desert. Cross desert basins and mountain passes. Search roadside buildings for supplies, take useful parts back to camp, and build with what you have.
Repair a jeep, fit out a bus, tow your cargo, or assemble a working vehicle from gridbeam, bearings, wheels and an engine. Parts can be placed, removed, and reused.
Keep food, water and fuel close. Refill containers, check what is in a scavenged can, and keep your vehicle running. Travel alone or share a world with friends on a dedicated server.
Cut lumber, make panels in batches and link storage to a placed saw. Build a shelter with exposed framing, lights and switches, or fit out a vehicle.
Scavenge food, water and fuel, tend plants, and use shelter and clothing as you cross the desert.
Find public servers, keep favorites, or connect privately. Shared construction, passenger seats, chat and dedicated hosting; two to four players or experimental unlimited.
OUT IN THE WORLD
Actual game captures, including views shared by Quixjote. Click to take a closer look.
Sunset, moonlit hills and the ledge view were captured by Quixjote during play. Distant homestead lighting, regional clay and shelf placement are in-engine validation captures from 0.7.36. The homestead is a demonstration build, not a bundled starting camp. Station supplies, salvage, ladder access and moving-cloud views are validation captures from 0.7.34. The revised station requires a new world; existing stations retain their layouts and salvage. Sheet metal and water-vessel views are staged in-engine captures from 0.7.33. Workstation, batch crafting, camp furniture and shelving views are from 0.7.32. Scavenged frames are from 0.7.31; the other house, interior, decay and parts-kit views are from 0.7.30. The kit follows inventory packing rules rather than literal 3D lumber containment. Daylight and evening vehicle lineups are staged scenes from 0.7.12. Night driving and the custom cart are from 0.7.16; the morning mountain view is from 0.7.21 and the road view from 0.7.22.
ON THE BENCH
Plans, not features in the current download. Scope may change as we test.
Build a gravity-fed separator from two barrels, lumber and salvaged fittings. Recover separated fluids with some loss along the way.
More building-specific supplies and scrap piles, further usable furnishings, and junkyards with the occasional worthwhile part.
Broader changes in landforms and hardy foliage, building on the regional ground colours in the current release.
Also on the list: separate sunlight exposure, community POI packs, gears, oil servicing and deeper vehicle restoration.
